Corporate move
The excitment of moving to a new country and settling into a new job is often spoilt by problems surrounding the move. So when our client's family found out they were moving to the United States, they were naturally apprehensive. From kids' Lego to dad's pool table to mum's fine art and china- moving to Wisconsin from Lancashire was not going to be an easy move.
Baxter's were chosen for their significant track record in moving executives across the globe and their background in handling specialist items.
Survey
Without a good survey at the start it is almost impossible to have a good move. Our surveyor visited the property and discussed its contents with the client, noting the items that required specialist dismantling. We explained to them at Baxter's we handle everything with care: we'll safely pack and move their most valued possessions, from the state of the art sound system to antigue furniture and glass, from fragile china to all the children's toys. Just as importantly, we discussed all the small but vital details that made their move unigue.
Critcal path
One of the main factors that cause stress during the move is not knowing what is happening when. We talked through the move plan with the family, agreed dates and timings, and covered specialist crate-making for fine art , marble colum, and the pool table. We organised the crew, trucks, materials and equipment, and made sure that all the elements of the move-packing, storage, transport and intallation-were scheduled.
Documentation
Taking possessions to another country is subject to destination customs regulations and formalities- they are different for every country but the U.S. is particularly stringent. We provided our client with a check list and advised on which items were vital to ensure that the shipment will be cleared with minimum fuss and with no unnescessary delays.
Packing
To minimise the amount of handling, we advised the client that it should be containerised and sealed on site, which meant asking their neighbours to move their cars for easier access. All this planning paid off- the crew arrived on time and fully briefed, and began packing swiftly and with skill. Knowing the names of the crew in advance, the client found them professional, helpful and polite. Inventory together with a condition report was completed and signed. After being sealed, the container was taken to Southampton and shipped to the States.
The other Side
At Baxter's, we are obsessive when it comes to communicating even the most detailed information. We firmly believe that we should be able to pin point your possessions at any time when they are in our care, even if they are in the middle of the Atlantic. So when the sea has got a bit rocky, we were concerned that the docking might be delayed. We contacted the client with our concern, as even a few hours delay could have a knock on effect on theirschedule. Luckily, the seas claimed down and when the shipment was cleared by the customs five days later, we were ready to collect and deliver to our client's new home. There, the crew placed the cartons and furniture in the correct rooms and positioned then to order. Special consideration was made for the debris- disposing of packaging needs to be done in compliance with the country's law and in line with Baxter's environmental policy.
At Baxter's, we have built a business on personal recommendations of happy client's such as this one.
